Goals in the second half from Morten Rasmussen and Kaspar Lorentzen gave Denmark a victory over Cyprus in Euro 2012 qualifying Group H.

After a first half in which Cyprus had successfully frustrated their hosts, Rasmussen put Denmark in front only three minutes into the second half with a header.

Lorentzen made sure of the points when he lashed a powerful effort home nine minutes from time.

Denmark enjoyed the bulk of possession but could not make it pay in the early going.

At the other end, Denmark's defence found the resolve that was lacking in last week's 3-1 loss to Portugal, although Morten Olsen's men were rarely put under any serious pressure.

The tone for the night was set in the fifth minute when Liverpool defender Daniel Agger found space in the goalmouth but failed to make the most of a pinpoint corner from Lorentzen. Any sort of contact from Agger would have resulted in a goal.

Denmark had a further six genuine chances to score in the opening stanza, and the majority of them missed the back of the net by the barest of margins.

Cyprus goalkeeper Antonis Giorgallidis worked tirelessly to keep his clean sheet, but after pulling off two wonderful saves in the first half he was eventually undone by Rasmussen.

The match continued to follow a predictable path after Rasmussen's goal, with Denmark attacking ferociously and Cyprus defending desperately.

Dennis Rommedahl looked to have grabbed a much-deserved goal in the 54th minute, only to be found offside, much to the frustration of the 15,544-strong crowd.

Christian Eriksen and Rasmussen both went tantalisingly close to scoring before Lorentzen slotted the second goal from long range.

Cyprus' best chance came in the 63rd minute when lone striker Michael Constantinou broke free after the hosts lost possession, only to be dispossessed.

Olsen was satisfied with his side's resolve after the major break.
