San Marino 0 - 2 Moldavia

Moldova picked up their second win of their Euro 2012 Group E campaign as goals from Nicolae Josan and Anatolie Doros gave them victory over pointless San Marino in Serravalle.

The home side headed into the Stadio Olimpico contest on the back of Friday's 8-0 hiding at the hands of group leaders Hungary and, despite proving a far more competitive proposition, they were condemned to a fourth-consecutive defeat by Josan's cool finish and Doros' late penalty.

Josan had had the first meaningful strike on goal in the 13th minute as his low right-footed drive forced Aldo Simoncini into a scrambling save, and the keeper was called into action again as Viorel Frunza let fly from fully 35 yards.

But San Marino slowly began to grow in confidence and Manuel Marani went close for them before they were hit by a swift Moldova attack.

Alexandr Suvorov's excellent corner from the right came through to Josan, who calmly slotted the ball home into the top corner for a 20th minute opener.

Marani fired wide at the other end as the home side sought a rapid response and Fabio Bollini's header forced a save from Stanislav Namasco.

Bit it was Moldova who continued to carve out the better chances with Andrei Cojocari's strike rebounding back off a post and Igor Bugaev somehow firing over from inside the six-yard box.

Valeriu Andronic was another Moldova player to miss the target when well-placed while San Marino continued to threaten sporadically with Manuel Marani forcing an excellent save from Namasco.

But the visitors finally killed the game off with just four minutes of normal time remaining.

Home defender Simone Bacciocchi was adjudged to have brought down Alexei Savinov in the area and Doros slotted the spot-kick into the top right-hand corner of the net.

The hosts carved out a great chance to grab a goal back in the dying seconds but Davide Simoncini failed to keep his composure and fired wildly over the crossbar.
